My sweet grandma passed away on February 9, 2013.  She was an amazing woman.  She was so generous, caring, strong, compassionate, and dedicated to her family, friends, church, and community.  My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease over 10 years ago.  She was his primary caregiver for all those years.  I have so much admiration for her dedication to my grandpa and I hope to follow in her footsteps in my own marriage.
She was so supportive of everything I did.  She loved coming to watch all of her grandkids play sports and perform in plays and recitals.  She was there for my soccer games, swim meets,  high school graduation, seminary graduation, award ceremonies, and wedding.  She always made each grandchild feel so special on our birthday.  We could choose wherever we wanted to go to eat with her and then she would take us shopping and we could pick out what we wanted with her.  It was so much fun to get that special time with grandma.  The grandchildren loved coming over to grandma's house to sled in the backyard, ride horses, hot tub in her basement, celebrate holidays and birthdays, and just to have fun.
I miss my grandma so much.  She was such a beautiful woman inside and out.  She had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ.  She was a wonderful example to me.  I am grateful to know that she is reunited with her husband and that she is pain free.  This experience has strengthened my testimony and faith in Heavenly Father's plan for each of us.  I am so grateful for the temple and for eternal families.  It is a great blessing that I know I will see her again.

Christmas Break

Jacob got 3 weeks off from school and I got 2 weeks off of work over the holidays.  It was so much fun to have so much time with Jacob.  We went up to St. Joseph on the 23rd and spent Christmas with Jacob's parents.  It was just us and them so it was really relaxing.  We did lots of reading, played games,  went running in the freezing weather, and hung out together.  It was fun to spend time with his parents. Our trip up there was cut a little short so we could make it back to Colorado for grandpa's funeral.  We left for Colorado on the 26th.  There was a viewing for grandpa on the 27th and then his funeral was held on the 28th.  It was nice to see all of my cousins.  We sang I am a Child of God during the funeral service.  It was sweet.  The next day we left with my family to go to California.  We had such a fun time.  We surfed, rode bikes, went whale watching, went on an electric boat tour, shopped, ate lots of good food, and laughed a lot.  One day we rode bikes to In and Out Burger.  What we thought was going to be an easy ride to get lunch turned into quite the adventure, but we all had a blast.  Tiffany and Trevor were champions on the tandem bike that had a chain that fell off every 5 minutes and brakes that didn't work.  I'm sure we were a sight to see cruising up and down the street of California.  One night us kids went to an arcade across the street.  We got hooked on one game trying to win an iPad.  It was hilarious as we had our timers and pens out to mark the spot on the machine.  We didn't end up winning anything, but we sure had some good laughs.  We had so much fun together.  I am very grateful for my wonderful parents taking us on such a fun and memorable trip!

We all ended up in the same row together!

One year!

On December 21st Jacob and I celebrated one year of marriage.  It's been a great year.  We have learned a lot about each other's strengths and weaknesses.  I think we make a pretty awesome team.  We have had many adventures in one year of marriage.  We moved to Kansas City, Jacob started medical school, I finished up a class online and graduated from BYU and worked, we traveled to Arizona with my family and then to St. Louis to visit some of Jake's siblings, we moved out of the ghetto and into a super cute duplex that I love so very much, I hated my job so I quit and found a better one that pays better and I love it.  This year has gone by so fast.  I love Jacob.  He is smart, funny, caring, hard working, good looking :) and just so wonderful.  We truly have a great life together!

I got home from work pretty late, but came home to a great surprise.  Dinner was in the oven and I was sent on a hunt for clues of sweet notes leading me to Jacob.  It was so thoughtful and I had such a fun time hunting around the house and solving the clues to find him.  I really wanted to make gingerbread houses, so we headed to Walmart to get some supplies.  By the time we got back it was so late and we were both exhausted so we made gingerbread houses the next day.  We had a great time decorating and designing our houses.  I think Jacob was going for big and strong and  I was going for cute.

I've been a little behind on blogging.  The holidays can do that to you...

On December 20th, 2012 my sweet grandpa passed away.  It was a bitter sweet passing.  After battling Alzheimer's for the last 10 years I know he was ready to go.  He was a great man.  I loved my grandpa and have so many great memories of him.  He took us horse back riding in the backyard and he started my favorite family vacation tradition of going to Lake Powell so many years ago.  He was a great man and I admire his hard work and dedication to the gospel.  We love you grandpa and know that you are enjoying a nice big bowl of ice cream now.  I am so very grateful for my knowledge of eternal families.  What a great blessing!

We Love You Grandpa
